Metal Slitters
AE specialises in manufacturing High Precision Metal Slitters for the Steel, Stainless Steel and Non Ferrous- HR (Hot Rolled) and CR (Cold Rolled) coil slitting. The key lies in identifying the right material of construction and hardness for the demands of the application to ensure:
- Fine slit quality without burr to give a uniform look to your slit coils.
- Good edge retention to ensure minimal downtime of your slitting line.
- Prevent chipping on the edges of the knife to maintain the quality of the slit coil.
AE has developed custom alloys that can slit a wide spectrum of materials that is ideal for steel service centres that cut a range of materials on the same slitting line. All our materials are sourced from European Steel Mills with modern melting and purification processes. We can supply knives made from ESR/ESU melted steel as well for exceptional grain refining.

Our team is very experienced in suggesting alloys for your cutting needs with full performance warranty to meet your requirements. The process of identifying the right material and hardness for your application starts with filling in the questionnaire with the details of the material to be cut.
Heat Treatment is done complete in-house in state-of-the-art atmospheric controlled furnaces with triple tempering as standard. Cryogenic treatment can also be provided on special request. For challenging applications and large Metal Slitter Knives, we perform additional heat treatment operations to ensure the blade is exceptional.
Size Range: AE can supply metal slitters up-to 1,000 mm (~40 Inches) in diameter!
AE can also supply knives in Super Precision Lapped Thickness Tolerances (+/- 0.001 mm) for shim-less tooling applications. Lapping is done on parallel plate German made lapping machines with super fine abrasives to ensure a very smooth and uniformly colored lapped surface. Custom laser marking, stamping or chemical etching is provided as standard for easy size identification of the tooling.
Knives are typically supplied in three-tolerance categories-
See detailed tolerance chart here.
The surface finish is the knives can be critical in certain applications to prevent pickup/sticking of the material on the surface of the knife. We supply knives in three types of surface finishes-
